Woven furniture
Basketry furniture.
During my education in Germany making furniture using basketry techniques was an important part of the training. Most of the students end up in this line of work. The emphasis is on designing and making woven furniture. Mostly made from rattan or willow sometimes using alternative materials. The students are taught not only how to weave back’s and seat’s, or to repair damaged furniture a major part of the education is designing and making new products. Using old fashioned and new alternative materials and techniques.
Besides making “whole’’ furniture, students are taught how to restore furniture.
